After a series of coincidences with...the name, the birth date, the NY holiday, the robe...there was no better date for Hudson's first birthday party. It was decided...FRIDAY, the 13th!!

We had a choice from his two most favourite things...balls and cars...and we settled on a ball theme for his party. I set about making the arrangements and getting all things round and ball like for ideas. Much preparation went into getting things organised, and we finally got there in the end. And the little man had 'a ball' on the day! :)

What's in a year?

It's hard to comprehend how fast a year can go...until you have a little one, and it all of a sudden becomes very real! It feels like just a few months ago we brought our tiny little fighter home from the hospital, but yet we have just found ourselves celebrating his first birthday already!

What an amazing first year... with lots of ups, downs and wiggling and jiggling all around (a year of reading children's books and singing children's songs does that too you). It's hard to believe this little boy was just a mere 1.79kg bundle 12 months ago, if you look at him now. Apart from being a little on the light side, he has caught up in every other aspect and you would never guess he arrived 6 weeks early.

Looking back...

We have loved every minute of seeing him grow physically and mentally through so many first experiences both for him and for us this year. And trying not to sound cliched, he really has brought so much joy to our lives and those around him. He is a proper little boy now, and he continues to be the happiest of chappys, forever smiling and giggling. His sweet little personality has really taken shape and his determination, with a hint of stubbornness, is very clear. Like most moms I'm sure, I find it hard not to gush about his cute little face and his beautiful blue eyes!

We really have been blessed with a strong and amazing little boy, who we love more than we ever thought possible!
