Is it a cat, a beggar or maybe a ghost?

...How weird is this?
Thursday we completed the deal on our new home....all exciting and nothing out of the ordinary there...until I got home from work...

I picked up the post at the door when I came in, said 'Hello' to Molly, put my bag down and went to go open the back door! Pretty much my routine for when I get home every day. Except this time I got to the back door and the key wasn’t in it door (on the inside)...like it ALWAYS is. So I tried opening the door and it was unlocked....and there to my surprise the key was on the outside! (I don’t think we have used the key from the outside ever!)

So of course I did a quick survey of laptops to check they were still there, they were and nothing seemed to be out of sorts. So I phoned Mark to see if he had perhaps had a senior moment...He hadn’t!

Mark got home shortly afterwards and as his routine goes, he goes straight into the bedroom to change. We went into the bedroom...the first thing I noticed, was that the duvet was pulled back on Mark’s side of the bed...

I’m quite pedantic about making the bed in the morning...so thought this was very odd! But then I had had my crazy night, the night before trying to finish my assignment (was up until about 3.30am and then still only wrote my last paragraph in the morning and was running really late because of it, so I couldn’t quite remember if I had definitely made the bed properly or not). But the strange thing is that the pillows were all how I normally stack them (Mark leaves them on the floor), on top of the pulled up duvet. So it looked as if someone had just climbed out!! Mark checked his wedding ring (which he hasn’t been wearing...because of really bad eczema on his fingers...) which was in plain view on the cupboard shelf and yet was still there. His grandfather's Rolex and my ring I’m getting for my birthday were all still in their hidden places. So basically nothing else had been touched or taken that we could see - besides the duvet and key being out of place!! Very very freaky!!

It was cleaning night to add to it, so needless to say the bedding went straight into the washing machine (apart from a few sniffs - Columbo style - to see if anything smelled out of the ordinary). Then when I was cleaning the bathroom, I noticed that the plug in the bathroom basin was pushed all the way in, which we haven’t done in ages!

The neighbours unfortunately weren't home to ask if they had noticed anything out of the ordinary...and they are now away....so the suspense continutes. We did however ring the Estate Agent, who has a key, as they are letting our flat out for us, however have already secured tenants, for when we move, so there would have been no need for them to come back into the property and so they of course said they hadn't been inside.

Mark is convinced it's the lady, whose house we have just bought (she died and left her estate to a charity) coming back to haunt us.....SPOOKY!!
